The incident took place around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday near Glen Island Park, said New Rochelle Police Capt. J.C. Coyne.

According to Coyne, the two unidentified people had been out boating when they hit a rock and their boat began to sink.

Luckily, New Rochelle Officer Timothy Childs was out paroling the harbor when he spotted the two in trouble. Childs pulled one onto his boat and the other person swan to nearby Glen Island Park where they were picked up by the Westchester County Police.

Both were dropped off on land, their boat was towed to a nearby dock where it sank overnight and had to be recovered on Thursday.

No one was injured, Coyne said.
